Ranma Saotome is the main character of the series. He turns into a
female version of himself whenever he's splashed with cold water, and he
is reversed back to his normal (boy) version by hot water. Engaged to
Akane
Tendo against his will, he says that she is "un-cute." Ranma seems to
develop
more of an interest in Akane as the series goes on. |
| The Cursed Springs
Ranma Saotome is a student of the Anything Goes School of Martial Arts.
He was engaged to Akane Tendo by his father and Akane's father. When Ranma
and his father, Genma , were on a training mission in China, he fell into
the Nyaniichuan (Spring of Drowned Girl) so now, every time he gets hit
with cold water, he becomes a she (Ranma-Chan). Hot water reverses this
effect and changes him back to his normal form. To make matters worse,
he is also being chased down by Shampoo, an Amazon woman, who wants to
marry him in his male form and kill him in his female form, (Akane just
loves this). Ryoga Hibiki is also out for revenge against Ranma. |

Ranma's Dad
Ranma's dad is Genma Saotome. It is his duty to train his son day and
night in the Saotome Anything Goes Martial Arts style. He also has an ever
continuing search for food which leads him to engage Ranma to unsuspecting
girls (in exchange for a meal of course) while forgetting to tell Ranma
about it. |

| Ranma's first fiancée, Akane, is a tomboy who's a nightmare
in the kitchen and will beat Ranma up before she kisses him. They always
seem to fight each other, but this usually brings them closer in loving
each other. |

| Shampoo is from China, and she really wants to marry Ranma because
he beat her and according to the Amazon tradition, Ranma has to marry
Shampoo. |

| Ukyo carries a huge spatula on her back, and is the okanomiaki cook.
She's Ranma's friend from childhood. She is also Ranma's fiancée
because of a deal Genma made with Ukyo's father (just so he could get
their
Okanomiaki cart as the dowry). |
