Genma Saotome is Ranma 's father. He also fell in the cursed springs
while training with Ranma and now turns into a panda when hit with cold
water. As a panda, he uses wooden signs to communicate. |
| Genma's Wife
Nodoka is Genma's wife. He loves her cooking, but is afraid of the
promise
he made to her when he took Ranma on the training trip. He promises to
make Ranma into a man and would commit seppeku (a type of painful suicide)
if he fails. When she comes to visit, Genma quickly changes into his panda
form. |

Running away
Another way Genma uses his panda form at his advantage is when he wants
to avoid speaking. This usually occurs when he is in trouble with Ranma
or other people around him. |
